Japanese Plastic Baren for Relief Printing
12cm Plastic Baren for hand printing.
This is a great option if you are starting out with printmaking, or using in workshops, or to let kids try printing, or to replace your spoon. Don't let the price or the material deter you from this product. It does a descent job and will last for years.
I use this baren for most of my relief printmaking workshops. It can be used for woodblock, lino, cardboard, collagraph and other relief printmaking, and even foam intaglio printing.
Use a baking paper between printing paper and baren, for smooth operation.
Hold it as pictured, and use the ball of the hand (?) to pressure and rub.
To those who are looking for Woodblock Printmaking Instructions, I highly recommend Making Japanese Woodblock Prints by Laura Boswell ( ISBN-13 : 978-1785006555) It is a lightweight, A5 size paperback with lots of pictures and easy to follow.
